Deb Smith graduated from Tennessee Law School in 1982. She worked as a private practitioner in Crossville, TN until early 1988, when she became an Assistant District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District assigned to Smithville and Sparta. She joined the current District Attorney General’s office in late 1990: she is assigned to the Child Abuse division, Division I, and Division IV and is currently a co team leader for the General Sessions Court. In addition to supervising the General Sessions Court, she handles all gun permit denial appeals, assists in Victim’s Compensation claims, and is part of the Human Trafficking Team for the office.
